Meet your resident travel blogger, climbing buff, adventure junkie, and road trip aficionado – but most people just call me Katie Boué. I’m a fresh-faced freelance writer with a passion for budget travel, exploring the outdoors, and promoting the art of American road trips.
When I’m not hunched over my laptop meeting copy-writing deadlines and engaging in the realm of social media, you can find me out discovering everything that my current surroundings have to offer. Whether I’m mucking through the swamps of the Everglades in my hometown of Miami, tromping through the snowy trails around Denver, or climbing a towering rock face in the southeast, I live to experience the natural world.

What is The Morning Fresh all about?
On the blog you’ll find a variety of content, ranging from stories and photos from my cross-country trips to travel planning tips and inspiring climbing videos. Beyond the blog posts, The Morning Fresh remains active through social media engagement, community involvement, and collaborations with like-minded individuals and businesses.
Here’s what The Morning Fresh is focused on:
- Advocating for outdoor recreation and National Parks
- Promoting budget travel and road trips
- Supporting local and small businesses
- Exposing readers to the sport of rock climbing
I always welcome relevant business, organizations, and fellow bloggers as sponsors or affiliates. If you would like to work with The Morning Fresh brand, please feel free to contact me to coordinate. I do accept appropriate press-trips, swag, etc. – however, I am loyal to my audience and thus will always provide unbiased reviews and supporting content. I am also available for outside content gigs, reviews, guest blog posts, and more.
Born in Queens, New York, but raised in sunny Miami, Florida. I’ve since spent time living in San Jose, CA, Tallahassee, FL, and Denver, CO. Since graduating from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing (with dual minors in communications and humanities), I’ve resigned myself to being permanently infected with the travel bug – it’s nearly impossible to get me to stay put for long.
In the past few years, I’ve traversed America on three separate cross-country road trips, each spanning between five and seven weeks – and the longest adventure was my solo trip in the fall of 2011. Combined with countless climbing trips throughout the southeast, I’ve racked up tens of thousands of miles worth of roadside travel. And I’m coming back for more. I’m currently planning to sell everything I own, buy a van, and spend 2013 living entirely on the road. My life is a constantly evolving journey, and I look forward to taking you along for the ride.
